Monday - Thursday Morning Zazen - Chanting & Ritual

Before zazen begins (at 7am) - chanting of the robe chant together with hands in gassho:

Dāi sāi ge dā pu ku;   musō fuku dēn e;   hi bu nyorāi kyo;   kō do shoshu jo.  (2 x)

Great robe of liberation
Field far beyond form and emptiness
Wearing the Tathagata's teaching
Saving all beings  

After zazen (most stand for bows):   all standing (or seated ok) hands in shashu

Chant Leader:

Gratefully we offer the merit of our practice to the great teachers who have transmitted the lamp through space and time; to all beings in the 6 realms; and to the great earth that sustains our life.

May we hold in our hearts the well being of:  all hold a standing bow for the reading of the names
      [names of people who are ill or suffering] and all those who suffer from illness, oppression and difficulty.

And may our remembrance and dedication to practice ease the passing of:
      [names of people who have recently died] and all those who have died from war, violence, disease, and natural disaster.  all stand in shashu posture again

As we, together with all beings, realize the truth of Buddha's Way ~  〇

All Buddhas ten directions, three times 〇
All honored ones bodhisattva mahasattvas  〇
Wisdom beyond wisdom  ●   ●●●●●●●
Maha Prajna Paramita 

Three deep bows with the bells

All:      hands in gassho

Oh Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, please concentrate your hearts on me.
I, ___your name___ , Buddha's Disciple, greet the new day with humility and joy.

May I today in all actions of body, speech and mind:
Affirm life; give generously; keep the mind clear;
treasure the body; be courageous and kind in speech;
open to and heal through strong emotions;
and return to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha on every breath.

Final bows and close:
