A Gentle Zen Retreat
Saturday, April 30, 2016 – Red Cedar Dharma Hall – 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Led by Shuko Edie Norton
A Day of Silence to Ease the Body and Quiet the Mind
The traditional Zen retreat schedule starts early and ends late with the intention of stretching our mind/body beyond its habitual limits so we can gain insight into ourselves. In this shorter, one-day retreat we will explore ways to work with bodily limitations without sacrificing the deep silence and focus we seek in zazen.
Our day will include zazen, kinhin, chanting, and reflection on how various positions and practices affect our minds and bodies.
This retreat is appropriate for students of all ages and zazen experience, but particularly those who have physical limitations that prevent them from sitting cross-legged on zafus for long periods. Please join us to explore how the body can support the mind in zazen.
Please bring a bag lunch (to be stored downstairs in the refrigerator) and arrive by 8:45 am.
Registration deadline: April 22, 2016
