An easy stroll into the deep primeval woods of our region. Mediation, ritual, contemplation and community. NEW: we'll stop at Nooksack Falls, please bring sack lunch.

Join the sangha for a Zen experience in the Old Growth forest remnant off of Mount Baker Highway. This spot is the home to the oldest living beings of our local area.  We make this visit annually to connect with the wisdom and peace of the grove. After our easy walk, meditation and ritual in the Old Growth grove, we'll stop at Nooksack Falls with a sack lunch at the largest waterfall in our watershed. We'll return to Bellingham by about 3:30pm.

Carpooling/Vaccination: Parking is limited to 2 or 3 spots so carpooling is mandatory. Therefore, registrants must be fully vaccinated, and N95 masks must be worn inside the vehicles.

You can join a carpool either at the downtown Bellingham Food Coop at 9:30am, or at the grocery store in Nugent's Corner at 10:00am.

To come on this hike please RSVP by clicking the "Register" button to the left. Choose a registration option that lets us know where you'll meet us.

Costs:In the spirit of generosity, we offer this event free of charge so that all who wish may attend. We also invite generosity on the part of participants (who are able) by making a donation to Red Cedar Zen Community to cover our organizational expenses in making this event possible. You can do so while completing your registration form.

In that same spirit, the teachers/leaders are freely giving their time in organizing and leading this event. If you feel moved to, you may express your gratitude with a donation to the teacher/leader on the Donate to a Teacher page.

More information: Please contact Wilderness Programs Coordinator Bob Penny at wilderness@redcedarzen.org with questions and see our Wilderness Dharma Program webpage for an overview of this program.
