Construction Work Together on Our New Home

Our permits are approved and we are ready to start doing significant construction work to help our contractor (and to reduce costs). There will also be lighter garden work available (e.g., weeding, mowing the lawn), but the core project at this month's work party is very physical:

JACK HAMMERING and sheet rock removal

The remodel includes pouring a new insulated, level floor in the zendo after it's expanded towards the parking lot, and the sangha has taken on the adventurous task of removing the existing concrete floor. We also need to remove the sheet rock as the walls will be thickened to add insulation.

This is dirty, sweaty work and we'll be supporting each other in staying safe and healthy as we work together to accomplish these tasks. 

Clothing: wear work gloves, boots and long work pants if you have them. 

Ear protection: over-the-ear ear protection is a must (as ear plugs are not enough protection). Indicate during the RSVP registration if you have good ear protection as we will buy extra pairs.

Gloves: indicate in the RSVP registration if you have work gloves in good condition. We will buy extra pairs as needed.

Lunch: if you can stay into the afternoon please bring a lunch. We are planning a full 9am to 4pm day, but any amount of time you can spend is a help.

Tools to bring (if you have them): hammer, pry bars, work gloves, ear protection, knee pads (less essential).

Arriving later than the start time is just fine. Please come when you can in the 9am - 4pm window. 

It's imporant to RSVP for this one, indicating if you'll need sangha gloves or ear protection, and to indicate when you're likely to be there.

Location: The new zendo is at 2509 Cedarwood, Bellingham, WA, near the intersection of Cedarwood and Northwest Avenue.
