Embodied Zen & 12 Step Practice: Working with desire and addiction with wisdom and compassion

Join Shuso Juriki Samuel Senerchia for an exploration of how Dharma practice supports us in working with addictive and compulsive patterns of all kinds.

Class Description: Addictions of all types, whether personal or in our family, become Darma Gates of liberation when we enter into a practice of Awareness, Acceptance and Action

Looking through the lens of Zen at the transformational tools of Recovery, we find sanity and hope. Looking through the lens of Recovery at the Embodied Practices of Wisdom and Compassion, we find a path beyond self clinging.

Schedule:
6 Monday evenings September 14th - October 26th (skipping Sept. 28th).

About Juriki Samuel:

Juriki Samuel Senerchia began meditation practice at Bellingham Peace Education Center, Aikido Do-jo in 1992, also that year spending time with Thich Nhat Hanh, he began continuous daily practice (with annual sesshins). He received Jukai from Reb Anderson in 1998 while in a two year residency at SFZC, where he did numerous practice periods led by Tenshin Anderson and Zoketsu Fischer, including one at Tassajara and one at SMZC with Jakusho Kwong. In 1999 he was married in a Zen Precepts ceremony by Eijun Cutts, and for the past 27 years he has devoted himself to family while practicing deeply in Zen and other wisdom traditions. He practiced at Upaya with Jiko Halifax and is now a Palliative Care Chaplain preparing for priest ordination with Nomon Tim.
