In this year's Jukai long-time online member Caitlyn Trachim will receive the precepts from Nomon Tim Burnett and Myokei Raizelah Bayen.
We look forward to practicing in person with Caitlyn who usually dials in from her home in Florida!
This year's ceremony is part of our Practice Period Closing Sesshin at Samish Island Retreat Center. If you are registered for sesshin you do not need to register separately for Jukai. Jukai guests please register in this event.
Note also that the Shuso's Dharma Inquiry Ceremony will be held next morning at Samish (Sunday at 11am).
Arrive early to park and walk across the grounds to the zendo (largest building to the east) in time for the 7pm ceremony start.
The Jukai ceremony will also be available on Zoom.
RSVP: If you are attending just the jukai (not the full sesshin) please RSVP to let us know if you coming in person or online.
About Jukai: The Zen ceremony of Jukai (literally "receiving precepts") is a ceremony of commitment to the Zen precepts, the Zen path, and the sangha. Done by lay students it marks a deepening of commitment to Zen and a warming of relationship with the teacher. See Precepts and Jukai on the website for background on this important process.
Red Cedar Zen Community is a 501(c) non-profit organization.
